Product Manager

Own the strategic direction of LYNG – turning clinical workflows, customer needs and market opportunities into clear requirements, priorities and a product roadmap. Based at Oslo Science Park in Oslo. Application deadline: 16 November 2026.

About Ably Medical

Ably Medical develops LYNG, a contactless monitoring mat placed under the mattress in hospitals, nursing homes or home care. Our focus is on giving care teams useful insight while keeping everyday care simple. We bring together medical device engineering, software and clinical understanding to support a more preventive approach to healthcare.

The Role

We are looking for a Product Manager to own the strategic direction of LYNG. This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding people as much as shaping products, and who wants to make everyday care safer for patients and easier for the nurses and carers looking after them. You will own what LYNG should deliver and why – turning clinical workflows, customer needs and market opportunities into clear requirements, priorities and a product roadmap.

This is a stand-alone, strategic role reporting directly to the CEO. You will be the voice of LYNG, both inside the company and in front of international buyers and end-users. You will work closely with Commercial and clinical colleagues to understand users, and with R&D, Operations and our quality and regulatory team to turn insight into usable products.

We already use AI across the company. You will use AI agents in your own product work, such as customer insight, requirements and documentation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own product strategy, value propositions and the product roadmap for hospitals, nursing homes and home care in Norway, Denmark, Germany and new markets.
  • Run ongoing market research: capture market and user needs, competitor moves and trends in care models, technology and procurement, and turn them into prioritized feature requirements.
  • Own product positioning and messaging, and present LYNG to international buyers, clinicians and end-users at customer meetings, trade fairs and conferences, together with Commercial.
  • Spend time on wards and in care homes with nurses and carers, and turn what you see, together with user research and customer feedback, into testable requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Agree features, priorities and version planning with the CTO, and manage requirement changes with R&D and Operations.
  • Lead product input to usability engineering (IEC 62366-1), from use specification to formative and summative evaluations with representative users.
  • Coordinate launch readiness, user training and lifecycle improvements, making sure customer feedback flows back into the product.
  • Use AI agents in product work, within our ISO 13485 quality system.

Why Join Ably Medical?

You will join at an early stage and build product management as LYNG moves from clinical pilots toward commercial scale. Reporting to the CEO, you will have direct influence on our strategy, what we build, why we build it and the value it brings to everyday care – fewer unnecessary checks for busy nurses, safer nights for patients and more time for the care that matters. We are a small, dedicated team with a flat, Scandinavian structure, where your opinions are heard and you weigh the views of colleagues at all levels.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years in product management or product ownership, ideally for medical devices or other regulated products.
  • A genuine interest in improving patient care and the working day of nurses and carers, combined with a strong commercial mindset and understanding of value-driven product development.
  • Proven experience with market and user research, competitor analysis, business cases for new features, product requirements, roadmap prioritization and cross-functional delivery.
  • Understanding of regulated product development and product lifecycle processes, ideally for medical devices.
  • Experience planning and running usability evaluations with real users, together with R&D and Clinical Application Specialists. Knowledge of IEC 62366-1 is an advantage.
  • Analytical judgement, clear stakeholder communication and disciplined documentation.
  • Confident presenter, with experience promoting products to international buyers, clinicians and senior decision-makers.
  • Relevant degree in engineering, healthcare, life sciences or business, or equivalent documented professional competence.
  • A collaborative working style, open to ideas from the whole team.

Gaps in any of the above may be offset by broader experience in other areas. If you have a background in clinical care and have built commercial or product experience since, we would especially like to hear from you.

Language Requirements

  • Required: fluent spoken and written Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.
  • Required: high fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Desired: spoken and written German. Other European languages also appreciated.

Additional Advantages

  • Hands-on experience from hospitals, nursing homes or home care, for example as a nurse, therapist or other healthcare professional, before moving into product, commercial or business roles.
  • Medical device launch experience, including pricing, market access, reimbursement or health economics input.
  • Experience with connected medical devices, embedded software, cloud and analytics.
  • Practical exposure to ISO 13485 development and MDR CE marking.

How You Will Work

You will define product needs and priorities while R&D owns technical architecture and delivery. QARA provides the quality and regulatory interface, and Operations owns manufacturing readiness. You will bring these perspectives together in product decisions, and plan releases with the CTO, Logistics and Finance so that scope, timing and cost fit together. You give the CEO a clear view of progress, risks and decisions needed.

In your first 12 months, you will set the product strategy and roadmap, and define the requirements and usability input for the next LYNG release. You will help grow sales by presenting LYNG to buyers and end-users in our key markets. Together with the CTO, you will also make AI agents an integrated part of how we do product work.

The role is based at Oslo Science Park (Forskningsparken) in Oslo, Norway, where we are part of the Aleap health startup incubator. We also have a presence in Denmark and Germany. We work primarily on-site, with some flexibility. Expect 2–3 trips per month, mainly in Norway and Western Europe, for customer meetings, trade fairs and clinical observations.
