Product Manager
Own what our products should deliver and why — connecting clinical workflows, customer needs and market opportunities with clear requirements, priorities and a product roadmap. Based at Forskningsparken in Oslo.
About Ably Medical
Help turn complex technology into simpler everyday care. At Ably Medical, we are developing LYNG — a contactless monitoring mat placed under the mattress. We bring together medical device engineering, software and clinical understanding to help care teams take a more preventive approach to healthcare. Now, we are looking for a Product Manager who can connect clinical needs and market opportunities with clear product priorities.
The Role
This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding people as much as shaping products. You will own what our products should deliver and why — connecting clinical workflows, customer needs and market opportunities with clear requirements, priorities and a product roadmap.
This is a central product leadership role within the Sales & Marketing team, reporting to the CEO. You will work with Commercial, Clinical Application Specialists and Field Application Engineers to understand users, and with R&D, QARA and Operations to translate those insights into feasible, usable and well-documented products.
Your Responsibilities
- Own product strategy, value propositions, requirements, prioritization, and the product roadmap.
- Turn user research, clinical workflow insight and customer feedback into testable requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Align product priorities and controlled requirement changes with R&D feasibility, QARA requirements and Operations readiness.
- Lead product input to usability engineering under IEC 62366-1: use specification, use-related risks, interface requirements, formative evaluations and summative evaluation with representative users.
- Coordinate usability evidence with R&D and QARA; connect findings to risk controls and validation results.
- Coordinate launch readiness, user training and lifecycle improvements; route complaints and safety feedback through QARA.
Why Join Ably Medical?
You will have a direct influence on both the product and the value it brings to everyday care. The role combines hands-on product leadership with the opportunity to shape priorities, usability and lifecycle development, work closely with the CEO and collaborate across commercial, clinical, engineering, quality and manufacturing perspectives.
Required Experience and Skills
- 7+ years of experience in similar product management or product ownership roles.
- Strong commercial mindset and understanding of value-driven product development.
- Proven experience with user research, product requirements, roadmap prioritization and cross-functional delivery.
- Practical understanding of regulated medical device development, design control, risk management and product lifecycle processes.
- Working knowledge of IEC 62366-1 usability engineering and the ability to coordinate user evaluations with R&D, Clinical Application and QARA.
- Analytical judgement, clear stakeholder communication and disciplined documentation.
- Relevant degree in engineering, healthcare, life sciences or business, or equivalent documented professional competence.
Language Requirements
- Required: spoken and written English at A-level, or equivalent documented language skills.
- Desired: spoken and written Norwegian at a similar level is an advantage.
- Desired: spoken and written German is a major advantage for this role.
Additional Advantages
- Working experience from the healthcare or care sector.
- Hands-on usability studies, clinical workflow insight and product launch experience.
- Experience with connected medical devices, embedded software, cloud and analytics.
- Practical exposure to ISO 13485 development and MDR CE marking.
How You Will Work
You will define product needs and priorities while R&D owns technical architecture and delivery. QARA provides the quality and regulatory interface, and Operations owns manufacturing readiness. You will bring these perspectives together in product decisions and work through approved requirements and change-control processes.
You will own the product roadmap and plan product releases for customers together with R&D and Operations.
Your primary workplace will be our office at Forskningsparken in Oslo. Travel of approximately 20–25 days a year is expected for customer interviews and clinical observations.
